Betty Aaron, 88, of Rex Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away July 18, 2025 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center, Las Cruces, NM. Cremation will take place. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Sunset Church of Christ with J.T. Ross officiating.
Betty was born December 30, 1936 in Las Vegas, NM to John and Mary Sue (Jones) Wester. She spent her early childhood on the family ranch near Grenville, NM. She later moved to California with her mother who married, Hugh Tevebaugh, Betty’s stepfather who raised her as his own.
Betty graduated from Victorville High School in Victorville, CA in 1954. She married Alton Aaron March 26, 1955 in Quartzite, CA and they moved to New Mexico in 1958.
Betty was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her Christian faith and church family were very important to her. She loved going to church, to ladies class, and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed creative hobbies including cooking, sewing, growing flowers, and providing computer support for her friends.
Betty held the position of church secretary for Jefferson St., Church of Christ in Hobbs and for Fox and Lake Church of Christ in Carlsbad. She also very capably managed the offices of Aaron Construction in Hobbs and Bulldog Wrecking in Artesia.
Betty was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary and Hugh Tevebaugh; husband, Alton Aaron, and son-in-law, Leon McGee.
Survivors are her son, Ken Aaron and wife, Rowena “Rae” of Artesia, NM; daughter, Julie McGee of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Connor McGee and wife, Andrea of Artesia, NM, Lexi Butler and husband, Alex of Parker, CO; Toni DeRouen and husband, Cameron of Colleyville, TX; great-grandchildren: Jasper, Alana, Perry, Barrett, Chloe Rose; her four-legged guardian, Babe; brother, Wayne Jones and wife, Ronne of Grenville, NM; sister, Virginia De Francisco and husband, Don of Irvine, CA; sisters-in-law: Nancy Gardner of Carlsbad, NM, Velma Aaron of Georgetown, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
