Benito "Benny" Carrasco Holguin

Benito “Benny” Carrasco Holguin, 81, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2025 in Henderson, NV.

Benito was born on November 12, 1943, to Rudolfo and Francisca (Mama Kika) Holguin, Benny grew up with a strong work ethic, love of family, and a deep sense of service to his country. He married Christina Zuniga in Carlsbad, NM before moving his family to San Jose, California, where he worked for many years as a welder with FMC. Benny was especially proud of his contribution to the development of the Bradley tank, a vehicle known for its unique ability to float. He was especially proud of the fact he owned several properties and stressed that real estate was always a great investment option.

While raising three children: Benny Holguin Jr. “Little Benny”, Annabel Holguin “Bel”, and Rudolfo Holguin “Rudy”. Benny pursued his education with remarkable dedication. He earned an Associate of Arts degree on June 19, 1976, and a second Associate of Arts degree from Phillips Junior College on February 15, 1991. He also attended San Jose State University, always believing strongly in the power of education.

Benny proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army. In his free time, he cherished visits to Santa Cruz Beach and San Francisco with his children and grandchildren. In his later years, he made his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he loved all the excitement and studied sports betting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Senorina Mendoza; and his brothers, Junior Holguin and Jimmy Holguin.

He is survived by his children: Benny Jr. “Little Benny” and wife, Merle, Annabel, and Rudy along with his beloved grandchildren: “Little Rudy”, Malia Elise Moore, Desmond Samuel Moore, Sabrina Holguin, Selena Holguin, and Marina Holguin, as well as great-grandchildren: Mackenzie Christina Davila, Desmond Holguin Davila, Sean Benny Anderson, Paris Christina Anderson and Melanie Roux Amaranto brought him so much pride and joy.

A rosary is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, October 3, 2025 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Santa Catarina Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM.
