Barry Allison

January 5, 1968 — April 9, 2024

Carlsbad, New Mexico

Barry Allison, 56, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away on April 9, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Barry was a long-time resident of Carlsbad.

Barry Lynn Allison was born to Larry G. and Kathleen (Mitchell) Allison in Grants, NM on January 5, 1968. The family moved to Texas while Barry attended school, graduating from Permian High School in Odessa in 1986. In 1988, although Barry was grown, he moved with the family to Carlsbad and began working for his uncle, Paul Mitchell, who was the Nature’s Milk distributor in Carlsbad.

Barry began working in the communications field around the time cellular phones and pagers became popular. He was a technician who worked installing, repairing and troubleshooting issues with cellular devices. He moved on to climbing and working on communication towers and finally, on to network communications.

Barry then began working in the oilfield where he used his communications knowledge to install, maintain, repair, and program at Morco Geological Services for their mudlogging operations. He carried that knowledge to Shanks Logging. All of Barry’s friends and family knew that his passion was for muscle cars and motorcycles. There was never a car or motorcycle broken down enough that he couldn’t see potential and work to fix it and get it running. He had the same perspective about people. A talented artist, Barry could draw beautifully but especially loved to draw motorcycles, ladies, and horses. He also enjoyed playing the drums and guitar.

Barry was preceded in death by his grandparents, E.S. and Lorene Allison of Odessa, TX and A.R. and Helen Mitchell of Carlsbad, NM, uncles Raymond Allison of Sterling City, TX, Jesse Mitchell, Craig Vandenberg, both of Carlsbad, aunt, Patricia Wilson and husband Bobby of Shreveport, LA, and son Brandon Clay Allison of Carlsbad.

Barry is survived by his parents Larry G. and Kathleen Allison, sisters Melanie Brantley, Marcia Allison, Mandi Cox and husband Clay, all of Carlsbad, Dee Hand of Colorado, whom he called “Brother”, uncles Jerry Allison of Midland, TX, Paul Mitchell and wife Linda of Carlsbad, aunt Judy Vandenberg of Albuquerque, NM, daughters April Allison of Weatherford, TX, Ashley Allison of Colorado Springs, CO, Katelynn Hart of Snyder, TX, Trinity Griffith of White City, NM, Shyan Wright of Tyler, TX, whom he called “Daughter”, granddaughter Olivia Allison of Weatherford, TX, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 10:00 am at Denton Wood - Funeral Home, at 1001 N Canal St in Carlsbad NM.
