Angelica Acosta Martinez

Angelica Acosta Martinez, 80, of 109 North Ave. I, Portales, NM, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

Angelica Acosta Martinez was born November 18, 1945, in Pecos, Texas to Seferino and Vicenta (Acosta) Martinez. She grew up in Loving and later moved to Carlsbad.

She was a homemaker who made the best homemade tortillas. She had 6 children, 4 girls & 2 boys who she raised on her own with some help from her mother. She worked hard to provide for her family. You could always find her selling at the flea market or having a yard sale to make ends meet. One thing about Angelica is she loved the Lord. She was baptized at the river which was still such a highlight of her life even many decades later. She was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church. She loved going to every service, ladies fellowship or revival. She enjoyed walking, thrifting, going out to eat with her family or just spending evenings outside her house watching cars go by while her grandkids played.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 15 brothers and sisters. Survivors are children: Annette Vasquez and fiancé of Portales, NM, Jennifer Elizondo and husband of Carlsbad, NM, Mary Ann Vasquez of Roswell, NM, Jeanette Vasquez of Carlsbad, NM, Ernesto Martinez of Albuquerque, NM & Frankie Vasquez and wife of Phoenix, AZ. She had 25 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
