Since Andrew was little, he had a thirst for knowledge. He was always finding new things to learn about. His clever nature and intellect made him a renaissance man. Andrew was a kind, loving, and patient person, who always had a willing and helping hand to anyone around him. His big heart made him a great listener, and allowed him to easily talk to anyone in all walks of life. He had a confident, firm but soft presence that would fill the room, while his voice and laughter reached every corner. His love for others extended through church and community volunteer work. Over the years, he worked in various fields including retail, IT, and medical. Andrew’s most favorite job of all was being an uncle to his nephew Francisco, who he adored. Andrew was an avid reader, enjoyed making delicious food for his family, and listened to all kinds of music. Above all, he loved his family, and he was their biggest cheerleader. He would go out of his way to make them feel loved and special, always encouraging them to be their authentic selves, and he was their protector. Andrew has left a lasting positive impact in all the lives he touched during his 32 years on earth. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Andrew was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Fred Rodriquez; paternal grandfather, Armando Chavez; godfather, David Leos; maternal great-grandmother, Lita Leos; and paternal great-grandmother, Marcela Chavez.

Andrew is survived by his mother, Yvonne Rodriquez of Carlsbad, NM; father, Ben Chavez of Carlsbad, NM; sisters: Caitlin Chavez (Vince Holguin) of Carlsbad, NM; and Elena Chavez of Carlsbad, NM; nephew Francisco Rey Chavez of Carlsbad, NM; maternal grandmother, Regina Rodriquez of Carlsbad, NM; paternal grandmother, Sally Chavez of Carlsbad, NM; godmother, Nadine Briones of Carlsbad, NM; aunts and uncles: Annette Carrasco, Kris Smith, Ruben Portillo, Annabel Miralda, Lori Potter, Lola Chavez, and Fabian Chavez; fur baby, Gracie; and numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and extended family.
