Amelia J. Capell

Amelia J. Capell, 83, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away March 28, 2026, at Carlsbad Medical Center. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, April 4, 2026, at Carlsbad Cemetery with Pastor Stephanie Yocom officiating. A memorial service will be held at a later date at her church. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Amelia was born July 19, 1942, in Carlsbad, NM to Samuel August and Gladys Madge (Bailey) Weise. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1960. Amelia married Bobby Cappell August 26, 1966, here in Carlsbad. She was a member of the Church Street Church of the Nazarene. Amelia enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She cherished the years camping and fishing with her family. Amelia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Capell and daughter, Janet Capell.

Survivors are her daughters, Carolyn Capell, Ritta Richardson; sons: Dan Capell and David Capell; 5 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brothers: Marvin J. Weise and Floyd Weise and wife, Jan; sister, Doris Stowe, and numerous nieces and nephews.
