Alton L. Appleton

Alton L. Appleton, 76, former resident of Carlsbad, NM, passed away August 9, 2026 at his home in Hobbs, NM. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.

Alton was born February 9, 1950 in Hobbs, NM, to Ivy and Illa Mae (Langley) Appleton. He graduated from Hobbs High School in 1968. Alton married Janice May February 24, 1968 in Hobbs. He worked in the grocery business for many years and later working in the oilfield for Chevron. Alton was talented and creative, making his own bows. He entered competition bow hunting where he was well respected. Alton also made custom jewelry which was a hobby and later sold jewelry. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Alton was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Hilton, Cilton, Dean and Dale Appleton; sisters: Iva Nell Hull and Judy Ankerholz.

Survivors are his son, Garrick Appleton; daughter, Staci Molina and Ely Lara; grandchildren: Zachary Molina and Zayna Molina; great-grandchildren: Zilet Molina, Zilie Molina, Zoie Molina, Calvin Baker, Jr., and Zayden Dean; sister, Mitzi Bishop, his four-legged girls: Bootsie and Ginger, and numerous nieces and nephews.
