Adan Martinez, 82, of Old Cavern Hwy, Carlsbad, NM, passed away July 1, 2026 at his home. Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Monday, July 6, 2026 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home followed by a vigil at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Cremation will take place following the services. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Adan was born February 25, 1944, in Carlsbad, NM, to Cresencio and Rosinta (Saiz) Martinez. He married Maria “Mary” Duran November 5, 1961, in Pecos, Texas. In the early years, Adan worked at Forrest Tire. He then went to work in the potash mines, retiring after 40 years. Adan was very talented. He was a good welder, electrician, carpenter, mason, and mechanic. Adan enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family. He is remembered by the kids and grandkids for teaching them how to drive. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Adon “Chapo” Martinez; sisters: Lola Madrid, Agustina Hinojos, Lilly Salmon, Petra Romero, and brother, Victor Martinez.

Survivors are his wife, Mary D. Martinez; daughters: Rosalinda Martinez and fiancé, Albert Villegas, Susie Dearsley and husband, Greg “Kanada”; son, Jaime Martinez and wife, Michelle; grandchildren: Amanda Morgan and husband, Dalton, Holly Jones and husband, Steven, Joshua Jones and wife, Randi, Alexsandra Martinez, Kandyce Martinez, Desirae Martinez; great-grandchildren: Ryleigh Kinnibrugh, Tanner Kinnibrugh, Isabel Jones, Brexton Jones, Brody Jones, Lexie Jones, Maisie Blu Bartlett; brothers: Tino Martinez and wife, Mary Helen, Lorenzo Martinez and wife, Maria; sister, Lupe Rivas and husband, Audelio, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Adam Rivas, Audelio Rivas, Jr., Audelio Rivas, III, Eric Madrid, Stevie Madrid, Chris Martinez, and Ralphy Madrid.
