On March 17th, 2018 he married his best friend and love of his life, Katrina at First Baptist Church, Eunice. They got to spend 353 blessed days of marriage together.
Matt began serving in music ministry and evangelism at the age of 16. Through this ministry, he shared God’s word through piano and song. He served at many churches throughout his career and finally came home to First Baptist Eunice. During his time away, he moved to Nashville and sang with the gospel group Ernie Couch and Revival. He loved getting to travel the country sharing the gospel. He also loved getting to try new restaurants and visit thrift shops looking for treasured albums and books. He belonged to the Singing Churchmen of New Mexico. He loved getting to spend time with those men and singing with them.
After the loss of his dad at the age of 11, he and his mother became very close. They shared many special memories together. After his return to Eunice, he enjoyed time with his sister, nieces, and nephews. He loved going to see the kids play ball and other extracurricular activities.
When he married Katrina, he got a package deal which included three step-children: Paige, Regan and Ryan. He loved them as his own and called them “my kids”. He cherished the time he spent with them and had such a special relationship with each one.
Matt loved cooking and trying new recipes. He loved Star Wars and the Big Bang Theory. He loved to laugh and had such a witty sense of humor. His love for life was contagious.
