Edwardo Medrano Fierro, 67, of Ortega Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away January 5, 2018 at Covenant Medical Center, Lubbock, Texas.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM, Monday, January 15, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, January 16, 2018, 10:00 AM, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Branch President Daniel Mares officiating.

Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.

Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Edwardo Medrano Fierro was born January 9, 1950 in Carlsbad, NM to Bicente Mendoza Fierro and Maria M. Fierro.  He was a father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  Edwardo graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1970 and promptly enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he proudly served.  He married his high school sweetheart, Lucy M. Mendez on June 13, 1970.  They had three children and as a family traveled the world.  Edwardo and Lucy returned to Carlsbad in 1990 where they made their home.  Ed was a truck driver for 20 years until his retirement in 2011.  He was a very patient, loyal and loving man who loved to fish, hunt, dance and enjoyed gardening.  Ed was the best cook and made the best pecan pie.  He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lucy and their three children: Nathan Fierro and Kris of Las Cruces, NM, Chelsea Pollitt and Kevin and Joseph Fierro and Angie, all of Carlsbad, NM; five brothers and five sisters.  Edwardo was the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Xavier Fierro, Cesar Fierro, Nicholas Pollitt, Cristian Fierro, Joseph Fierro and Nathan Fierro.  Honorary pallbearers are Zoë Pollitt, Gage Ramirez, Leandro Lopez, Kevin Pollitt and Isaac Ramirez.
